In its final years as Chevrolet’s only small car offering, the Aveo sedan gets a nose lift putting it in the same visual line as its Aveo hatchback sister, and a bit like its bigger brother the Cruze.

No word yet if we will get the 1.6l engine here, but the 1.4l E-Tec II engine will soldier on.

Which brings the next question: when is the brand new Chevrolet Aveo/Lova coming on line? The current car’s platform is already almost 7 years old, and is too old to compete with the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris. Not to mention the Hyundai i10 and Ford Fiesta.

Inside there are a few changes that we might see come our way:

  • beige/gray interior trim
  • side airbags – if Chevy does include this, it will be the first in its class to offer this feature
  • a trio of gauge clusters, to replace the rather boring gauge cluster. This will be keeping in line with the likes of the Cruze’s cluster

Some speculate that the new Aveo/Lova might not see the light of day in spite of the spy photos released early this year. We might instead see the Opel Corsa being rebadged as a Chevrolet. Expect this model to come here by the last quarter of 2009.
