January 2011

Looks like the manufacturers’ product cycles are coming to a head. After the Chevrolet Cruze, comes the Hyundai Elantra to spice up your choices among the compact segment. The fresh redesign follows the Sonata’s design language but is not as over the top. Its also distinct enough to seperate itself from its stablemate, the Kia Forte.

Ok, I’ve always been a fan of Subaru. In spite of being sold off to Toyota, I really hope they retain their quirky styling and dedication to the WRC. The new Impreza concept is a lot bolder and mature than the old Imprezas (its also a lot bigger). There has been no official word on the powertrains, but we can all be assured that they’ll still get the good ‘ol boxer engines. My guess is that it will have a hybrid model in its lineup featuring the hybrid system found in the Prius.

Well, we still dont have it here but we will soon be getting the 2012 Ford Focus sometime in the 4th quarter if the rumors are to be believed. The new Focus is more grown up and has a restrained style that contrasts a bit with the Fiesta.

Talk about a lack of imagination…or really sticking to a proven design. Honda just released the 9th generation 2012 Civic sedan and coupe. If it bears a huge resemblance to what you see today, you’re right it looks like the only thing they really changed is the rear end.

The speedo continues as a floating unit above the dash which also remains a two-tier affair. Nothing solid on what will power the new Civic, but the big bet is that Eco-Assist will be available.

Well, here it is…a video of the new Chevrolet Aveo, available in sedan and hatchback versions. It will be called the Chevrolet Sonic in North America.
